3.3.6. Ignition distributor

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the battery from weight.
2. Disconnect sockets from the distributor.
3. Find the cast figure "1" on a distributor cover. It is a tag of a high-voltage conclusion of the 1st cylinder. If the tag on a cover is absent, then find the corresponding conclusion on a cover on a wire from the 1st cylinder.
4. Uncover the distributor and, having turned the crankshaft, install the runner opposite to a high-voltage conclusion of the 1st cylinder (see subsection 3.1.1.2).
5. Put a tag on the lower edge of the case of the distributor, directly under the termination of the runner so that the tag in accuracy coincided with the runner. Put also tags on the case of the distributor and on a head of cylinders to provide the correct installation of the distributor at assembly.
6. If the design provided fastening by two bolts with zaplechik for a flange, then release these bolts (to provide a free wheeling of the distributor) but completely do not turn off.
7. Turn off a bolt of fastening of the distributor, then give the distributor in the horizontal direction and get it.

Prevention

The turn of the crankshaft after removal of the distributor from the engine is not allowed. Otherwise drawing tags becomes senseless.

Installation

Prevention

If the crankshaft nevertheless turned after removal of the distributor, then install the piston of the 1st cylinder in VMT of a step of compression (subsection 3.1.1.2) and orient the runner and the case of the distributor.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Replace a sealing ring on the distributor case.
2. Combine a ledge on the distributor coupling with a flute on the case.
3. Insert the distributor into the engine, having precisely oriented the case on the put tags.
4. If the distributor is not installed in the place, then double-check the tags put on the basis of the case of the distributor and on the engine before dismantling. Install the distributor precisely on these tags. Check also orientation of the runner, the tag on the runner has to coincide with a tag on the basis of the case which was put before dismantling.
5. Wrap a bolt(s) of fastening of the distributor.
6. Further installation is carried out upside-down.
7. Check installation of the moment of ignition (see subsection 3.3.7), tighten a bolt of fastening of the distributor.
