The cars considered in the present manual are equipped with two types of systems of ignition – system with the external electronic block and system with the internal block of ignition. The last differ in the fact that the electronic block of ignition (switchboard) is built in the ignition distributor case. On both systems the coil of ignition is mounted in the distributor.

Electronic ignition log in:

      – ignition lock;
      – battery;
      – block of electronic ignition;
      – induction sensor;
      – ignition coil;
      – wires of low-voltage (primary) chain and high-voltage (secondary) chain;
      – distributor of ignition and spark plug.

The electronic processor block (ESM-blok) operates work of system of ignition. ESM-blok provides automatic adjustment of a corner of an advancing of ignition according to signals from sensors which trace various parameters of the engine (such as speed, volume of the sucked-in air, temperature of cooling liquid, etc.). Such system is called system of ignition with electronic control the ignition moment (ESA system).

Contactless systems of ignition are subdivided into two groups – systems with the built-in electronic block of ignition and system with the external electronic block (see rice. Details of contactless system of ignition with the external electronic block and rice. Details of contactless system of ignition with the built-in electronic block). Before replacement of any detail of system of ignition be convinced that all checks are executed in full and that this detail should be replaced. It is connected with the high cost of details, and also with the fact that they as a rule are not subject to return.

Prevention

When performing checks and repair of system of ignition it is necessary to follow the following safety rules:

      – at refusal of launch of the engine do not leave ignition included for a while bigger 10 minutes;
      – connect a tachometer according to the instruction of the manufacturer (before acquisition of a tachometer consult in service of car service of the dealer);
      – do not allow a contact of conclusions of the coil of ignition with a weight (otherwise failure of the block of electronic ignition and the coil is possible);
      – it is forbidden to disconnect the battery from weight on the working engine;
      – constantly you watch that the block of electronic ignition was reliably connected to weight.

Check

Prevention

The system of ignition develops very high voltage therefore, when working it is necessary to observe extra care. Potential danger is constituted not only by the block of electronic ignition, the coil, the distributor and high-voltage wires, but also such auxiliary details as tips of high-voltage wires, a tachometer, and other instrumentations.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If the engine is not started, and the starter vigorously turns the crankshaft, then disconnect high-voltage wires from candles and connect to them the calibrated rated sportsman for check of ignition (is available on sale). Connect one of rated sportsman conclusions to a bolt or a metal arm on the engine. In the absence of a test rated sportsman disconnect a wire from one of candles, take away the isolating tip and record a wire the isolated tool at distance about 6,0 mm from the bared site of weight.
2. Turn the crankshaft a starter and you watch a rated sportsman or a wire of a candle. There has to be an intensive spark of blue color.
3. If the spark is available, then on candles necessary tension moves (check other wires to be convinced of serviceability of a cover of the distributor and runner). Turn out candles and check them (see subsection 2.8.2).
4. If the spark is absent, or sparking unstable, then uncover the distributor and check a condition of a cover and the runner (subsection 2.8.3). At detection of moisture wipe dry a cover and the runner, establish a cover into place and repeat check.
5. If there are still no sparks, then disconnect a high-voltage wire of the coil of ignition from a distributor cover and connect a wire to a test rated sportsman (a wire of a candle establish into place). Repeat tests. In the absence of a rated sportsman record a coil wire the isolated tool at distance about 6,0 mm from the bared site of weight.
6. If the spark appeared, then malfunction of a cover of the distributor or runner can be the cause.
7. In the absence of a spark check all conducting of primary chain of the coil of ignition, be convinced of purity and reliability of connections. Check whether tension on the coil from the ignition key arrives. Check the ignition coil (see subsection 3.3.5) and the induction sensor of the distributor (see subsection 3.3.9). Execute necessary repair and repeat test.
8. If the spark is still absent, then replace the wire connecting the coil of ignition and a cover of the distributor (check resistance of a wire and compare to the standard value specified in subsection 2.1). If replacement of a wire by obviously serviceable does not yield result, then the electronic block of ignition is faulty.
9. Check whether tension from the battery on the electronic block at inclusion of ignition moves. If tension is absent, then replace the electronic block (see subsection 3.3.8).
