The system of anti-blocking of brakes (ABS) is intended for preservation of controllability of the car, its stability and maintenance of optimum reduction of speed at sharp braking in the majority of road conditions. It is carried out by tracking the speed of rotation of each of wheels and adjustment of pressure of brake fluid for each of wheels. It allows to prevent blocking of wheels.

SYSTEM ELEMENTS

Drive

The drive of the ABS system consists of the hydraulic pump and four electromagnetic valves. The pump creates hydraulic pressure in drive cavities which creates pressure in the brake system. The pump and cavities are in the drive case. Electromagnetic the valve regulate pressure in the brake system at inclusion of the ABS system. One valve is intended for each of wheels.

Sensors of speed of rotation of wheels

Sensors of speed of rotation of wheels which are available on each wheel generate weak electric impulses at rotation of gear rotors, sending signals of various tension to ABS electronic control unit, showing the speed of rotation of wheels.

Sensors of speed of rotation of forward wheels are installed on rotary fists of forward wheels, near the gear rotors established on external hinges of half shafts.

Sensors of speed of rotation of back wheels fasten to guards of back brakes or arms of naves. Rotors of sensors are established on naves of back wheels.

ABS computer

The electronic control unit of ABS is established under the dashboard and is an ABS system brain. Takes an electronic control unit and processes information obtained from sensors of speed of rotation of wheels and controls pressure in the brake system, preventing blocking of wheels. The electronic control unit also constantly monitors work of system for tracking emergence of malfunctions.

If in system malfunction appears, on an instrument guard the alarm bulb of ABS lights up. The malfunction code is also stored in an electronic control unit and will indicate to experts area or an element of system which failed.

DIAGNOSTICS AND REPAIR

If the alarm bulb on an instrument guard lights up and does not die away at the movement of the car, so the ABS system requires attention. Though the special electronic tester of diagnostics of ABS is necessary for exact diagnostics of the ABS system, the motorist can carry out the following preliminary inspections independently before addressing to auto repair shop:

      – check the level of brake fluid in a tank;
      – check reliability of connections of wires;
      – check safety locks

If everything is all right, it is necessary to address experts.
