3.2.11. Measurement of cylinders
Measurement of diameter of the piston on the diesel engine Measurement of cylinders requires the cylindrical arrow indicator by means of which it is possible to measure in the middle and in the lower part of the cylinder. If the arrow indicator is absent, the following works cannot be carried out. You perform measurements of cylinders in the longitudinal and cross direction. Besides, measurements have to be taken in 15 mm from the upper edge, in 15 mm from bottom edge and in the middle. In total it is required to perform 6 measurements. Write down all results of measurements and compare to the data provided in the size table and adjustments. It is necessary to consider that all cylinders have to be chiseled even if the sizes only of one cylinder differ from demanded. The deviation from the size in 0,20 mm from the required value means that the cylinder has to be chiseled. Pistons have only one repair size. The final size of the cylinder is defined at measurement of the piston according to data of the figure 11.1, that is 18,0 mm from a piston finger. Measurements are made under the lowermost flute of the piston. To the measured value it is necessary to add a gap of the piston of 0,04-0,06 mm. Besides, it is necessary to consider an allowance of 0,02 mm for a final honingovaniye in case cylinders have to be chiseled. For check of a side play of pistons measure diameters of cylinders and diameters of pistons as it was described above, and calculate a difference for each cylinder. If the result exceeds value of 0,20 mm, it is necessary to chisel cylinders to install pistons of the increased size (there is only one size) as the side play reached limit of wear. |
