1.5.34. 3-staged automatic transmission

GENERAL INFORMATION

Normal mode of the movement

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To start the engine (cm. subsection 1.6). The lever has to be in the provision of P or N.
2. Holding a leg a brake pedal, transfer the lever to situation D. In situation D there is an automatic choice of the most suitable transfer for traffic conditions, for example for the normal horizontal movement, for the movement on rise, at towage, etc.

Prevention

At inclusion of transfer it is forbidden to press a pedal of a butterfly valve.

3. Release the emergency brake and a pedal of a brake. Slowly press a pedal of a butterfly valve, smoothly start.

Braking by the engine

For braking by the engine transmission switches to a low gear as follows.

If the speed of the car is lower maximum permissible for the second transfer, then transfer the lever to situation "2". Transmission will switch to the second transfer.

If the speed of the car is lower maximum permissible for situation "L", then transfer the lever to situation "L". Transmission will switch to the first transfer and the braking effect will increase.

Maximum permissible speeds

In situation "2"
109 km/h
In situation "L"
63 km/h

Prevention

When switching to a low gear on the slippery road be extremely careful. Sharp switching will lead to a drift of the car or to pro-slipping of wheels.

Do not overload the engine. You watch a tachometer, do not assume that turns of the engine were in a red zone. Values of speed limit for each position of the lever are given above.

Do not allow the long movement on rise in provisions of the 2 or L lever, otherwise transmission will fail because of an overheat. At towage or for overcoming rise you transfer the lever to situation "D".

Movement by a backing

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Completely stop the car.
2. Having pressed a brake pedal, move the lever to situation "R".
It is forbidden to transfer the lever to situation "R" during the movement of the car.

 Parking

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Completely stop the car.
2. Extend the lever of the emergency brake to the full and put the car on the emergency brake.
3. Having pressed a brake pedal, move the lever to situation "P".

Prevention

It is strictly forbidden to move the lever to situation "P" during the movement of the car. Otherwise serious breakages and loss of controllability the car are possible.

Councils for driving

Always on the working engine you hold a leg on a brake pedal that will prevent the slow movement of the car.

Do not try to hold the car on rise by easy pressing a pedal of a butterfly valve as the transmission overheat is possible. Use foot and manual brakes.
