Damages
Prevention
The dust formed as a result of wear of frictional material of coupling and laid on coupling elements contains asbestos which is hazardous to health. Do not blow off and do not inhale it. Do not use gasoline or solvents on its basis for removal of this dust. It is necessary to use the clearing liquid of the brake system to wash away it in the pallet. Then elements of coupling need to be wiped dry a rag. The used rags and the clearing liquid need to be placed in the sealed marked container and to utilize.
Removal
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
1. For receiving access to coupling elements usually remove the transmission from the car. If you remove the engine for a partition, it is recommended to take an opportunity and to check a condition of elements of coupling and to replace those from them which wore out. Anyway, the cost of new elements of coupling will be much less those means and efforts which need to be spent for receiving access to coupling elements, removing the engine or the transmission therefore it is recommended to replace all elements of coupling if only they not new or almost in perfect tune. The following operations assume that for receiving access to elements of coupling the transmission is removed. |
2. Remove the working cylinder (see subsection 8.2.4). Suspend it so that it did not prevent work – it is not obligatory to disconnect a hose. |
3. Remove the transmission from the car (see subsection 7.1.5 and subsection 7.2.8). Establish a support under the engine for that time until the transmission is removed from the car. It is also recommended to use the elevator which would support the engine from above. |
Prevention
If you use a jack, put between it and the oil pallet of the engine the wooden block or a board for distribution of loading.
The place of connection of a tube of the return pipeline is located very close to the bottom of the oil pallet. If the pallet is bent or deformed, the engine can not receive enough lubricant.
|
4. The fork of switching off of coupling and the release bearing can still be not removed from the transmission. |
5. To support the conducted clutch plate at removal, insert the tool for centering of coupling into the disk plug. |
|
6. Carefully examine a flywheel and press a disk and find index marks. Such marks usually are X, O or a white letter. If you cannot find them, put the marks in order that press the disk and a flywheel could be established then in initial situation. |
7. Gradually turn off bolts of fastening of a press disk to a flywheel. Turn off bolts diagonalno, turning off each of them gradually until spring pressure completely weakens. Then, holding press a disk, get all bolts and remove press a disk and the conducted clutch plate. |
|
Check
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
1. Usually, if with coupling there are problems, they are caused by wear of a coupling casing, any of elements. Nevertheless, it is necessary to check all elements of coupling. |
2. Examine a flywheel on existence of cracks, traces of an overheat, scratches or other damages. If the flywheel is not strongly damaged, its surface can be restored in auto repair shop and to make equal and smooth. Operation of removal of a flywheel is described in subsection 3.1.1.14. |
|
3. Examine frictional material of a clutch plate. He has to act over heads of rivets at least on 1,587 mm. Check a clutch plate for existence of the loosened rivets, deformations, cracks, the broken springs or other damages. Usually, the conducted clutch plate is replaced every time when dismantling coupling therefore if it not new or in perfect tune, replace it. |
4. The release bearing needs to be replaced together with a clutch plate (see subsection 8.2.2). |
|
5. Check the rubbing surface of a press disk and a plate of a diaphragm spring. If the surface of a press disk is scratched or has any other damages, replace press a disk. Also, check it for existence of deformation, cracks and other obvious damages. The glossy raid can be removed by means of a small emery paper. When replacing a press disk it is possible to establish either a new disk, or restored.

Installation
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
1. Before installation, carefully wipe surfaces of a flywheel and a press disk. It is very important that on these surfaces or on frictional material of the conducted disk there was no oil or lubricant. Establish these elements only by clean hands. |
|
2. Establish the conducted disk and press a clutch plate, holding the conducted disk by means of the tool for coupling centering. Check that the conducted disk was correctly established (on the majority of disks there can be a mark flywheel side – this party to a flywheel – or something similar). If there is no mark, establish a disk by the party with damping springs or laying to the transmission. |
3. Acquire bolts of fastening of a press disk to a flywheel, but do not twist them so far up to the end. |
4. Establish the conducted clutch plate precisely on the center of a casing of coupling, having inserted the centering tool via the disk plug into deepening in a bent shaft. Turn the tool up-down or in the parties until it becomes into place. Twirl bolts of fastening of a press disk to a flywheel, twisting them gradually and in turn. Twist bolts in a diagonal order not to displace a coupling casing. After all bolts will be twirled, tighten them till the required moment of an inhaling specified in the section of technical characteristics at the beginning of this chapter. Get the centering tool. |

|
5. Grease with high-temperature lubricant an internal flute of the release bearing (the drawing at the left). Also apply a little lubricant on contact surfaces of a fork of switching off of coupling (the drawing on the right) and on a bearing installation site on entrance to a transmission shaft (the drawing at the left). |
6. Install the coupling switching off bearing (see subsection 8.2.2). |
7. Install into place the transmission, the working cylinder of the drive of switching off of coupling and all other elements which were removed earlier, having delayed their fastenings till the required inhaling moment. |
