3.1.1.6. Gear belt

GENERAL INFORMATION

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the battery from weight.
2. Block back wheels and put the car on the emergency brake.
3. Release nuts of fastening of the right forward wheel, lift the car and establish on supports.
4. Remove the right forward wheel and an apron of a bumper.
5. Turn out spark plugs.
6. Take off drive belts (see subsection 2.6.4).
7. Shoot an intermediate video (it is specified by an arrow) a conditioner compressor drive belt.
8. Turn off an aktyuator a cruise control (if it is provided) and put aside.
9. Uncover a head of cylinders (see subsection 3.1.1.3)
10. Establish a support under the engine (having enclosed previously wooden board, but not under a drain stopper of the pallet).

Prevention

If you plan to take off both a gear belt and the oil pallet, then will hang out the engine on a waist from above (see subsection 3.1.2.4.1).


11. Install the piston of the 1st cylinder in compression step VMT (see subsection 3.1.1.2).
12. Hook and get a cover of the viewing hatch. Record a flywheel the big screw-driver from a provorachivaniye and ask the assistant to turn off a crankshaft pulley bolt.
13. The pulley of the crankshaft has to be pulled together from the crankshaft freely, without application of a stripper.
14. Remove two (on engines of 1,3 l) or three (on l engines 1,6 and 1,8) covers of a gear belt (see rice. Covers of a gear belt of engines 1,6 and 1,8 of l).
15. Remove the directing flange of a gear belt, having paid attention to its correct orientation, the flange has to be turned by valtsovanny edges outside.
16. If the belt is used further, then put orientation tags on the conducted gear wheel and on a belt, and also apply on a belt to the shooter, specifying the direction of rotation of the engine.
17. Weaken an inhaling of an adjusting bolt of a roller of a natyazhitel, then press a roller inside and again tighten a bolt. Take off a gear belt from the conducted gear wheel.
18. If the belt is removed for replacement of an epiploon of a cam-shaft, or for removal of a head of cylinders, then to take off a belt from the conducted gear wheel, or to turn off fastening of the right support of the engine there is no need.
19. If the belt is removed from the car, then it is necessary to turn off two nuts (are specified by shooters) from a support of fastening of the engine (to turn off from below the car), and the top bolt of a support.
20. Turn off the top bolt (it is specified by an arrow) and lower the engine, then pull up the lower part of a support (the rubber pillow can move) and stretch a belt between the top and lower sections of a support of the engine, at the same time completely it is not necessary to remove a support.
21. If on the conducted gear wheel of a belt there are wear tracks or damages, then turn off a bolt and remove a gear wheel from a cam-shaft of final valves (see subsection 3.1.1.8). At a bolt otvorachivaniye hold a cam-shaft a big key.
22. Take off a gear belt from the leading gear wheel and get it from a motor compartment. If on the leading gear wheel there are wear tracks or damages or if it is necessary to replace a forward epiploon of the crankshaft, then remove the leading gear wheel. The leading gear wheel has to be pulled together easily. Otherwise get moving forward a gear wheel two screw-drivers, previously having closed rags the case of the oil pump.
23. Previously put with paint tags on the case of the oil pump and on the leading gear wheel that will allow to find situation the corresponding VMT in the absence of a crankshaft pulley.

Check of a state

Prevention

It is forbidden to turn a belt inside out. Do not allow hit on a belt of oil, cooling liquid or gasoline. It is forbidden to hold a gear belt a cam-shaft or the crankshaft from a provorachivaniye at a wraparound of bolts of the leader or conducted gear wheels. At removal of a gear belt it is not allowed to turn a cam-shaft or the crankshaft more than by several degrees (if it is necessary for combination of teeths).


During the operation of the engine its pollution or an excessive tension can be the cause of a rupture of a belt.
Prevention

At break of a belt in operating time of the engine serious breakages because of impact of valves with pistons are possible. In this case check gaps in valves (see subsection 2.1), at curved valves as a rule the increased gaps are observed that indicates removals of a head of cylinders and repair the need.


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check existence on a gear belt of stratifications or the torn-off teeths. At such damages the increased wear of the distributor, oil pump, or both cam-shafts will be observed.
2. If on outer side of a belt there are cracks or noticeable wear, then check a condition of the leader and conducted gear wheels, existence on them of zadir or chips.
3. If only one party of a belt is worn-out, then check a condition of the directing flange of a belt and parallelism of the conducted and conducting gear wheels.
4. At a doubtful condition of a belt, or at detection of strong indications of damages replace a belt. Before installation of a new belt find the reason of its damage and eliminate.

Prevention

Skilled drivers recommend to change a belt at any its removal, irrespective of the reason as the break of a belt can lead to an engine exit out of operation and to expensive repair. The manufacturer recommends to replace a belt through each 100.000 km of a run.


5. Release a bolt of a natyazhitel, remove a natyazhitel and a spring. Check freedom of rotation of a roller and measure spring length in a free state (1). If length does not meet standard, then replace a spring.
6. Put into place a natyazhitel and a spring. On engines of 1,3 l also check a condition of the top intermediate pulley. In the presence of strong indications of wear or damages replace an intermediate pulley, having turned off a bolt. Tighten a bolt of a pulley with the set moment.

Installation
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Carefully clear a forward part of the engine in the place of a gear belt.
2. Again check combination of tags on a cam-shaft and the crankshaft (see rice. The provision of the conducted cam-shaft gear wheel corresponding to VMT). If the conducted gear wheel of a cam-shaft of final valves was removed, then establish a gear wheel, having oriented so that the groove on a forward cover of a basic neck of a cam-shaft coincided with the center of an opening in a gear wheel. Make sure that the provision of the leading gear wheel of the crankshaft corresponds VMT and risks made earlier coincide.
3. Put on a belt the leader and conducted gear wheels. If the belt which was in the use is put on, then be convinced of combination of the tags put at removal.
4. Put on the crankshaft the directing belt flange so that otbortovka were turned from a belt.
5. Put into place the lower cover of a belt and a pulley of the crankshaft, check combination of tags of VMT.
6. Pulling a belt from a forward part of the car, weaken a bolt of a roller of a natyazhitel and turn off on 1/2 turns that the effort from a spring was made for a roller.
7. Slowly turn the crankshaft clockwise on two whole revolutions, then tighten a bolt of a roller of a natyazhitel with the set moment. Check a belt tension in deflection size from a radiator, in the middle between the leader and conducted by gear wheels, compare deflection size to standard.
8. Again check coincidence of adjusting tags. At the position of the crankshaft corresponding to VMT of the piston of the 1st cylinder, the center of an opening in the conducted gear wheel of a cam-shaft has to coincide with a tag (see rice. The provision of the conducted cam-shaft gear wheel corresponding to VMT). If tags definitely do not coincide, then repeat the procedure of installation of a belt.

Prevention

It is forbidden to start the engine to full confidence in the correct installation of a belt. At discrepancy of the moments of opening of valves and arrival of the piston to VMT serious breakages which elimination requires expensive repair are possible.


9. Establish other details as it should be the return to dismantling.
10. Start the engine and check its work.
