5.5. Fuel level sensor

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before check of the fuel level sensor completely fill the car with gasoline.
2. Remove a back seat and a cover of the hatch of the pump assembled with the sensor (shooters specified fastening screws).
3. Disconnect the socket of the fuel level sensor located in the top part of a tank.
4. Measure sensor resistance between conclusions pink (+) and black color. Switch an ohmmeter to a scale of 200 Ohms.
5. At completely filled tank resistance of the sensor has to be about 4 Ohms.
6. Connect the socket. Make a trip to almost full emptying of a tank (it is also possible to merge gasoline in a canister or a suitable vessel by means of the manual pump, – a mouth not to suck away gasoline).
7. Check sensor resistance. Now resistance has to be about 110 Ohms.
8. If resistance of the sensor differ, then replace the sensor.

Prevention

The sensor can also be checked having removed it from a tank. Measure resistance at completely lowered float (a tank empty) and in the extreme top provision of a float (a full tank). Resistance has to change from 110 Ohms to 2–4 Ohms.

Replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove from the fuel tank the pump assembled with the fuel level sensor (see subsection 5.4).
2. Carefully incline the sensor not to damage the float lever at extraction from a tank (the float is in the lower part of assembly the pump sensor).
3. Disconnect sockets from the sensor.
4. Unscrew screws of fastening of the sensor to an arm (are specified by shooters) and remove the sensor.
5. The sensor is installed upside-down.
