GENERAL INFORMATION

The system of window regulators is based on operation of the electric motors installed in the doorway which lift and lower glasses. The system of window regulators consists of switches, engines (regulators), glasses and connecting wires.

Regulators of glasses are connected so that glasses can be lowered or lifted by means of the main block of switches at the driver or by means of the switches located directly on doors. On each door the separate motor which can work in both directions is installed, lifting and lowering glasses.

Position of the switch defines polarity and, thus, the engine area of work. On some models the relays controlling the electric current arriving on engines of window regulators are installed.

On some models the separate automatic switch for each of engines of window regulators in addition to the safety lock or the automatic switch protecting all chain is installed. It protects system from that one failed window regulator did not block work of all system.

Window regulators work only when the key in the lock of ignition is turned in situation On. Also, at inclusion, the blocking switch on the main block of switches can block switches on all doors of the car, including a forward door of the passenger. Always check a condition of this switch before diagnostics of system.

The operations on diagnostics available to the simple motorist are very superficial therefore if you cannot find a malfunction source, address experts.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If window regulators do not work, check a safety lock or the automatic switch.
2. If only back window regulators do not work or if window regulators obey only the main block of switches, check the blocking switch of back window regulators for conductivity of current in the switched-off situation (see the tab. The table of connection of a tester and conductivity of the switch of a window regulator on a car door). Replace it if it does not carry current.
3. Check wires between switches and the panel of safety locks for integrity. Restore connection if there was a gap.
4. If only one window regulator does not obey the main block of switches, try to lower or lift this glass by means of the switch installed on a door. The exception makes a window regulator of a door of the driver.
5. If this window regulator obeys the door switch and does not obey the main block of switches, check the switch for conductivity (see the tab. Table of connection of a tester and conductivity of the main block of switches of window regulators).
6. If the switch as it should be, check wires between this switch and the engine of a window regulator for existence of short circuit or a gap.
7. If the window regulator does not obey both switches, remove the panel of finishing of a door on which this window regulator is established and check presence of tension on the electric motor at turning on of the switch.
8. If on the engine there is tension, disconnect glass from the regulator. Lift or lower glass a hand and check whether it is bent or it is damaged. Also, check whether it is bent or the window regulator is damaged. If the window regulator is not damaged and glass goes up and down it is light, replace the engine. If glass or a window regulator are damaged or deformed, grease, replace or repair faulty details.
9. If on the engine there is no tension, check wires between switches and engines for integrity. You should look at schemes of electric equipment of the car. Electric chains of some window regulators are protected by the relay. If they are available, check that they were reliably grounded, and to them tension from switches arrived. Also, check that each relay sent tension to the engine at turning on of the switch. If is not present, replace the relay.
10. Check work of window regulators upon completion of work.
